Application Software Developer - Computer Science - RECRUITMENT PAUSED

Job Summary

This position will work half time for the Computer Science Department and ETCS Dean's Office and half time at the Information Analytics and Visualization Center.  Responsibilities include:

 

Responsibilities for Computer Science Department and ETCS Dean's Office:

 

  • Provide IT support, troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software, and maintaining servers and networks for the Computer Science student labs and the CS Department
  • Provide IT support, troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software, and maintaining servers and networks for the research labs in the CS Department
  • Setup, troubleshoot, and resolve faculty and staff computer hardware, software, and peripheral devices problems
  • Assist faculty and staff in investigating and purchasing hardware, software, and peripheral options for instruction and research
  • Develop programs and scripts to support CS Department administrative operations and classroom instruction 
  • Support to utilize available resources for classroom teaching
  • Provide other technical assistance as needed to individual CS faculty and staff
  • Provide presentations, demonstrations, and tour of the CS research labs to prospective students and other guests
  • Support students in conducting scholarly projects or research at the CS research labs
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals for servers, networks and related software
  • Prepare documentation for computers and peripherals
  • Provide IT support and troubleshooting computer hardware and software for the ETCS Dean's suite
  • Assist the ETCS Dean's suite to update web contents

 

Responsibilities for the Information Analytics and Visualization Center:

 

  • Provide IT support, troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software, and maintaining servers and networks for the IAV Center
  • Administrate servers, workstations, and other resources at the IAV Center
  • Develop software to support research, scholarly projects, and externally and internally funded projects executed at the IAV Center
  • Develop and maintain frameworks to make the use of hardware and software at the IAV Center more accessible
  • Provide presentations, demonstrations, and tours of the IAV Center to prospective students and other guests
  • Assist activities for promoting the IAV Center both internally and externally, including developing advertising material
  • Support students in conducting scholarly projects or research at the IAV Center
  • Prepare documentation for hardware and software at the IAV Center
  • Read and comprehend technical manuals for servers, networks, and related software
Required:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field (applicants in their final year of bachelor's studies will be considered)
  • Must have experience and technical skills in IT support, troubleshooting and maintaining computer hardware and software, and maintaining servers and networks
  • Ability to develop SW application, computer programming, and prepare accurate documentation
  • Ability to conduct presentations

 

Preferred:

 

  • Previous experience in software application development, programming in computer graphics and visualization areas, and web technology
