Purdue University Fort Wayne strives to add hardworking, good people to our team and we are currently seeking an HVAC Mechanic. The pay for this position is $24.04.

 

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

  • Perform maintenance on all campus HVAC systems including chillers, coils, Air handling units, rooftop units, VAV boxes, VRF and mini-split systems, food service coolers and freezers, etc.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, replaces or repairs equipment.
  • Perform regular inspection and maintenance of systems.
  • Works with DDC and pneumatic Control systems.
  • Make recommendations and purchases for equipment and repair parts purchases
  • Attend training to keep current with changing technology advances.
  • Assist maintenance mechanics, grounds and other physical plant co-workers in performing a variety of tasks based on departmental needs.

 

What are the position essentials required as a HVAC Mechanic?

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 3 yrs HVAC experience with a least 1 year commercial HVAC experience, including air handling and rooftop units, mini split systems, VAV boxes, VRF systems, DDC controls, fume hoods, and other commercial HVAC systems.
  • Demonstrable knowledge in various types of HVAC equipment/systems.
  • Familiarity with performing installation, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, or repair of all refrigeration, heating or cooling equipment.
  • Perform record keeping in compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, or manufacturer guidelines.
