Senior Project and Account Manager - Communications and Marketing - Fort Wayne

The Senior Project and Account Manager is an experienced integrated project manager, a detail-oriented content manager and producer, and an effective account services client liaison. Supports, aligns, and activates Office of Communications and Marketing creative teams with well-identified project knowledge and direction, as well as production and client management skills across print, digital, and multi-media platforms including publications, websites, advertising, e-marketing, social media, and broad campus initiatives. Develops comprehensive marketing and project plans — and documents activities and milestones in leading project management software systems. Plays a key role in overseeing the initial planning, resource development, vendor sourcing, scheduling, and production management activities throughout all execution and review phases, while effectively anticipating and responding to client and account needs. Assures ongoing adherence to brand principles, strategy, and creative consistency. Monitors and reports on outcomes and metrics.   • Serves as a senior project manager and account liaison to effectively develop, document, and communicate integrated marketing and communications strategies and execution milestones across departmental creative teams and throughout all project-related client touchpoints. Working closely with Office of Communications and Marketing leadership, serves as a key point of contact for assigned projects to provide support and awareness for both creative objectives and client expectations. 
  • Identifies comprehensive project milestones, closely monitors status and supports execution phases across teams, and accurately documents and tracks activities and project specifications within leading industry project management software (currently including Basecamp, Google Docs, Excel, and photography and art databases). Ensures highest quality standards, deadlines, and accuracy are met at all stages of projects.
  • Plays a central role in managing the development, alignment, maintenance, and performance of advertising, branding, and marketing campaigns across platforms and media channels. Helps identify opportunities and key contacts, create specifications, and track and review campaign assets for integrated Web, social, print, product-based, out-of-home, advertising and marketing needs. Develops best-case and standardized practices along with vendor and production management.
  • Works closely with the editorial team, university contacts, and clients, to help monitor, manage, and evaluate incoming and outgoing content for overall consistency, accuracy, alignment to project goals, and identified brand needs. Assists with assuring and documenting all relevant editorial development and review steps.
  • Works closely with editors, art directors, and photographers to identify opportunities and oversees key project management steps to develop and align photo and video assignments to support and enhance identified project initiatives. Identifies and documents project stakeholder needs, and helps cast, schedule, and confirm major photo and video shoots. Maintains photography rights agreements as related to assigned projects. 
  • Working closely with the Senior Director of Account Management and Operations, helps manage vendors, obtains estimates and timelines, and identifies and monitors status of process to meet deadlines and execution expectations. Working closely with design team and other account team members, determines, documents, and communicates specifications. Manages vendor review steps to assure quality and accuracy of deliverables. Maintains project documentation and is knowledgeable about vendor techniques, equipment, time frames, skills, capacities, and proofing processes.
  • Working with Office of Communications and Marketing staff and external vendors, helps identify and utilize a variety of available data sources to develop and report on appropriate metrics to help track results and gauge performance of marketing and branding campaigns across platforms. 
  • Develops and maintains highly productive, collegial, sustainable working relationships with colleagues, clients, and peers and senior members of the administration. Often works across multiple campus departments to coordinate projects and offer solutions.
  • Works effectively in a team environment to ensure that strategies and outcomes are best determined at the outset of projects; that client needs are addressed, maintained, and accommodated; that production expectations, schedules and deadlines are met; that projects adhere to established budgets; and that content is thoroughly fact-checked, proofed, approved, and documented.

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications, marketing, public relations, design, or related field
  • Four to five years of relevant and recent experience in project and/or account management with a focus on integrated marketing and communications activities
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communications skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Ability to think and act both strategically and tactically
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

  • Strong knowledge of leading project management software, working knowledge of standard production and graphic execution techniques, familiarly of digital and print media platform specifications and technologies
  • This position may require presence and commitment before 8 a.m., after 5 p.m., and on weekends, both on- and off-campus
  • Some local and regional travel required for meetings, events, and conferences
  • This position may be required to be in communication with other Communications and Marketing staff and senior administrators, and/or perform key work tasks, in off-hours or off-location conditions as required to execute special projects or critical communications as conditions may demand




  • Previous experience in higher education, agency, or corporate communications and marketing environment
