Project Director, Upward Bound, Fort Wayne

Job Summary

Provide leadership for the Upward Bound program at Purdue Fort Wayne and to provide students with guidance, support, and direction in order to be successful beyond high school.

  • Provide overall management of Upward Bound program including personnel, budget oversight, and program compliance
  • Recruit, train, develop and provide leadership for the U­­pward Bound staff including annual program and personnel reviews
  • Create partnership with targeted schools and community leaders to achieve program goals
  • Meet all programming enrollment goals and initiative requirements
  • Be responsible for overall coordination of academic school year and summer academy 
  • Oversee recruitment and selection of Upward Bound participants
  • Build collaboration with community and maintain critical community-based relationships
  • Design intervention programming, workshops, and activities to provide information on various topics such as college and financial aid, careers, culture and self-awareness, and provide community service opportunities
  • Manage parent-guardian program and parent council


  • Master’s degree required
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills required
  • Minimum three years administrative and supervisory experience required
  • Must have experience directing not-for-profit or federal programs (prefer TRIO programs), experience with student support systems including administration and fiscal management, and experience in developing and managing academic support programs focusing on low-income, first generation students
  • Successful experience writing and being awarded a grant required 


  • TRIO grant experience preferred
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of high school curriculum and undergraduate admission and financial aid procedures preferred
