Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:

We are seeking a full-time onsite Maintenance Technician in our Student Housing department. The Maintenance Technician will perform preventive maintenance on all university electrical, mechanical, building structure, plumbing, ventilation systems and components. The hourly pay for this position is $18.50.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Respond to daily work orders and perform preventive maintenance that includes pushing, pulling, lifting, carrying, and moving 50 to 80 pounds occasionally. 
  • Clean heating and cooling coils.                                                                                                                   
  • Install, repair, replace, and maintain door hardware, plumbing fixtures, and lighting fixtures.
  • Reset breakers, replace fuses and motor fans.
  • Assist outside contractors in locating facilities and equipment.
  • Identify and diagnose problems with electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems.
  • Assemble and install furniture, shelves, bulletin boards, etc.
  • Check and assist in logging equipment recordings.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED; will consider experience in lieu of education.
  • You have at least three years of commercial or industrial general building maintenance experience.
  • Must have good mechanical aptitude.
  • You must be able to move, lift, carry, push and pull 50 to 80 pounds occasionally.  
  • You must have the ability to work at various heights. 
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some vocational/technical training.
  • Previous mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and preventive maintenance experience.
