Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:

We are currently seeking a full-time and onsite TRIO Academic Coordinator in our TRIO Student Support Services. This will be responsible for coordinating services for students with key university staff and faculty and in assisting the Director with implementation of program workshops on college success and transition skills for first-generation students. The annual salary for this position is $43,944.00.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work one-on-one and in groups to provide resources and support to enable students to be retained and to graduate from Purdue Fort Wayne
  • Establish on-going relationships with students in order to develop individual college/life plans.
  • Plans involve identifying specific coursework and extracurricular activities to help build well-rounded resume upon degree completion.
  • Work with at-risk/probationary students to offer resources including tutoring, mentoring, and resource referrals.
  • Assist with program recruitment including making presentations and discussing benefits of the program with students, parents, and Purdue Fort Wayne colleagues.
  • In coordination with Director, assist in implementing program activities and events.
  • Build relationships with students by participating in activities such as plays, cultural events, and educational trips.
  • Track student academic performance and intervene as needed to provide academic advising in collaboration with Purdue Fort Wayne academic advisors, faculty, and staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 3 years’ experience in TRIO or other academic support program that focuses on first-generation and/or low-income students.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and basic computer skills.
  • Ability to work in conjunction with faculty, administrators, and underrepresented populations.
  • Computer operations experience.
  • Understanding of first-generation student culture and enhanced cultural competency related to working directly with diverse student cultures.
  • Must have valid Driver’s license and maintain compliance with Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records check policy.
