Join Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW):
PFW is currently seeking a Track & Field / Cross Country Director (36649) to manage all aspects of a competitive NCAA Division 1 Men’s & Women’s Track & Field / Cross Country programs. The annual salary for this position is $50,000.00 - $53,559.00.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Understand Head Coach Responsibility through the supervision and management of all aspects of the team.
- Understand, follow and enforce all NCAA bylaws, League regulations, and university academic and other policies and procedures.
- Recruit quality student-athletes.
- Hire and supervise all Assistant Coach(s), GAs or any team staff.
- Establish practice schedules and practice content.
- Oversee and monitor academic progress of all team members.
- Establish team rules; behavior guidelines and expectations consistent with university, NCAA and Athletic Department policies.
- Create and foster an environment that promotes the overall health and welfare of student-athletes.
- Recommend athletic financial aid awards and letter award recipients.
- Manage, develop and oversee all aspects of the team’s budget, including participating in fundraising activities.
- Schedule competition by recommending appropriate meets, desirable dates and times, sources for officials and other game personnel and appropriate travel arrangements (vehicles, meals, lodging).
- Coordinate equipment, uniform and supplies needed for team by recommending uniform replacement needs and monitoring the security of equipment and gear.
- Serve as an instructor for one HPER course per year for the School of Education, including development of course content, materials, evaluation and assignment of grades.
- Other Duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 4-5 years of successful collegiate coaching experience and extensive recruiting experience.
- Working knowledge of NCAA DI rules.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Record of integrity and leadership to advance the goals of the Department of Athletics including a commitment to the academic success and graduation of student-athletes.
- Ability to effectively relate to diverse constituents including students, student-athletes, faculty and stakeholders.
- Strong supervisory and public relations skills required along with support of Athletic Department values and principles, and a commitment to fundraising.
- Must have the ability to develop and implement a successful recruitment program and be able to demonstrate leadership and coaching skills.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records Check policy.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A Master’s degree.
- Experience at the Division I Level.
