Job Summary

 

PNW Pathfinders are essential to the success of Purdue University Northwest (PNW). Students selected for this position will promote PNW and build relationships with prospective students and families, faculty, staff and community leaders and in addition will be expected to communicate with newly admitted students and families. Knowledge and execution of PNW Campus tours are also required.

PNW Pathfinders you will develop leadership and organizational skills, while gaining experience in public speaking and assisting the Office of Admission with on campus events. This position will also increase your knowledge of the campus from a historical and factual perspective.

 

 

 

Specific Duties

Specific Duties

  • Represent Purdue University Northwest in a positive and professional manner
  • Greet visitors with a smile and a positive attitude.
  • Have extensive knowledge of Purdue Northwest as an institution.
  • Assess and address needs as well as interact positively with new and prospective students and guests.
  • Establish positive relationships and build rapport with visitors, large groups, and new students on campus.
  • Participate in ongoing training and team building activities including all Admission events.
  • Assist staff with individual projects and special events which may include but is not limited to outgoing phone calls, student panel discussions, and general office duties.
  • Support various university departments and staff with reaching their goals.
  • Conduct individual/group campus tours of the Purdue Northwest.

Key Requirements

  • Must be willing to commit to serving as an OL for a minimum of one academic year
  • Must be available to work all, but not limited to Admissions/Recruitment events re: New Student Orientation, Open Houses, and various campus events related to Student Life.
  • Must attend mandatory training sessions
  • Willingness to participate in a minimum of two volunteer events each semester is recommended
  • Must be currently admitted as a PNW student
  • Must be enrolled in classes during the fall and spring semesters
  • Must maintain a minimum of Cumulative 2.5 GPA
  • Must demonstrate exceptional verbal and written communication skills and an enthusiasm for Purdue University Northwest
  • Must be able to work with diverse populations showcasing ability to work independently as well as in a team setting. You may be asked to work events other than just your home campus

Must be a PNW student.
