Job Title:  Student - First Gen Social Media Associate

Position Overview

The Executive Director is looking for a First Gen Social Media Associate. This focus of this role is to assist in the development of the first-generation college scholar communication strategy and implement daily objectives. The primary market weekly newsletter (Mailchimp), social media (Facebook and Instagram), the UB website, as well as any digital and print media that is shared with prospective students, school partners, and community resources. The intern will work closely with the Executive Director and Assistant Director for First-Gen College Outreach and Retention in creating and implementing a cohesive and distinctive First. Generation College Scholar brand as we continue to increase our visibility within the PNW community.

 

Schedule:

  • Up to 20 hours per week (in office or virtual)

Pay:

  • $10.00/hour

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of the firstgenpride email and general social media accounts
  • Ensure the First Gen social media sites are in compliance with the PNW Marketing and Communications branding policy
  • Maintaining the social media contact list database in an organized manner—grouping contacts into sub-categories to send targeted newsletters
  • Create digital media content (event flyers, social media content (Instagram and Facebook) using tools such as Canva and/or Photoshop
  • Assist with the development of the First Gen College Scholar marketing brand, in conjunction with PNW marketing to coordinate material templates—FG logo, template with branding scheme, flyer templates, etc.
  • Assist with creating and implementing a social media plan—scheduling posts in advance according to academic student objectives and college prep focus tasks of the month (i.e. scholarship opportunities, workshop reminders, resources available in the community)
  • Providing feedback and share data analytics report to the First Gen Success Team
  • Be able to collaborate with the Outreach Coordinator and the Upward Bound staff if needed
  • Develop digital media organization method

Education

  • Sophomore (2nd year) student or higher

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Work-Study preferred
  • Enrolled at Purdue Northwest University
  • Knowledge of being a First-Gen College Scholar the impact
  • Be able to work virtually or in-person
  • Working knowledge on content creation tools and software
  • Willing to learn different technological tools and processes
  • Subject to background check
