Overview of Student Experience Advisors, College of Business

The College of Business is seeking two Student Experience Advisors to join their team.  Our College of Business at Purdue University Northwest is focused on providing our students with educational experiences that help them grow and develop the skills and abilities needed to achieve their personal and career goals.  Our engaged and dedicated faculty and staff lead students from the classroom to a career with innovative and challenging learning experiences.  Our Student Experience Advisors play a critical role in our students’ success.  This position will work at both our campuses located in Hammond, IN and Westville, IN.  Come be a part of our success at Purdue Northwest!

Duties and Responsibilities of Student Experience Advisors

  • Develop and maintain relationships with employers (local, state, and nation-wide) to foster repeat recruiting visits designed to provide internship, co-op, and professional opportunities for our students and alumni
  • Represent the College at recruitment events held on and off campus to educate employers on the College of Business’s academic programs
  • Provide information to employers about the most effective means of identifying potential job candidates in the College of Business
  • Advise students about career alternatives
  • Advise students with choosing classes that will lead to graduation, guide them to resources available within the university and be a supportive advocate for our students
  • May need to update plans of study in Degree Works or other electronic platform.
  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate training and skill development workshops on various topics, such as personal branding, job-search strategies, career information technology, interview skills, and experiential learning preparation
  • May instruct 2-4 one-credit College of Business Experience courses per semester
  • Coordinate programming and customized seminars, workshops, and programs based on student needs assessment and faculty requests. Work with and advise faculty and college administrators on methods to enhance the quality of experiential learning/career development and to expand departmental participation.

Experience of Student Experience Advisors

  • 1 year of experience in a professional work environment
  • Experience working with a variety of databases (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Drive)
  • Professional work experience in higher education working with and interpreting rules and regulations at the university, local, state and national levels is preferred
  • Familiarity with Degree Works, Navigate, Slate and Banner is also preferred
