Job Summary
The Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor or a tenured Associate Professor position with a 9-month academic appointment, beginning Fall 2025. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Civil Engineering; mentor and advise students on senior design projects; develop and maintain a nationally recognized research program; obtain extramural funding to support the research program; and advise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research, scholarship, and professional development.
Education
A Ph.D. degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in structural engineering or a closely related field is required. The degree must be earned by August 12, 2025.

The School of Engineering at PNW comprises three departments: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), and Mechanical and Civil Engineering (MCE). Closely affiliated with the school are two distinguished and award-winning research centers, the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) and the Purdue Water Institute (PWI).
Department
The Department of Mechanical and Civil Engineering offers ABET-accredited baccalaureate degree programs in Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering, and a graduate master’s program in Mechanical Engineering as well as Civil Engineering concentrations. Our engineering programs are nationally ranked #58 among non-PhD granting institutions. The department provides excellent teaching and learning opportunities with state-of-the-art equipment, design studio, laboratories, and research centers.
