Position Profile

The College of Engineering and Sciences (CES), Purdue University Northwest (PNW) invites applications for tenure-track positions in the Department of Computer Science, with 9-month academic appointments at the level of assistant professor, beginning Fall 2025. PNW anticipates hiring multiple faculty if qualified applicants are determined through the search process.

 

Computer Science (CS) offers a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree. Both degree programs are rapidly growing. The department consists of a high performing team of faculty and is expanding its curricular offerings including interdisciplinary areas and collaboration with local companies. CS has a robust presence in Artificial Intelligence research and education, with two research labs recently established, the Intelligent Systems and Collaborative Robotics Research Lab and the Advanced Intelligence Software Research Lab. The position is open to all research areas in computer science.

Qualifications

  • A Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, or a related discipline is required by August 11, 2025.
  • Ability to conduct high-quality scholarly research leading to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Demonstrated strength in or strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a program of research leading to publications in high-quality journals.
  • Teach a wide range of graduate and/or undergraduate courses and fulfill the responsibilities associated with those courses, such as curriculum development, assessment, and student mentoring.
  • Providing suitable service to the department, university, profession, and/or community.

School & Department

The College of Engineering and Sciences (CES) serves over 1,321 undergraduate students and 161 graduate students across a wide range of academic programs. The college includes Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Physics, Mathematics/Statistics, and the School of Engineering.

 

PNW’s School of Engineering within CES comprises three departments: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Closely affiliated with the School are two distinguished and award-winning research centers, the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) and the Purdue Water Institute (PWI).
