Job Summary

The Mental Health & Community Outreach Assistant will support the operations and impact of StRides Against Suicide & Overdose, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and resources for individuals seeking mental health and substance use treatment.

 

Rate of Pay:

  • $15.00 per hour 

Start Date:

  • August 18th 

End Date:

  • May 9th

Work Schedule:

  • 10–15 hours per week (flexible around class schedule)
  • Some evening/weekend availability preferred during event season
  • Hybrid: Remote tasks and local travel 

Responsibilities

  • Supporting event coordination (walks, rides, mental health awareness booths)
  • Assisting with digital marketing efforts, including social media, newsletters, and email campaigns
  • Creating and distributing flyers and outreach materials using tools like Canva
  • Helping maintain volunteer, sponsorship, and donor databases
  • Supporting outreach to community partners, sponsors, and local organizations
  • Performing administrative tasks, including data entry, scheduling, and communications
  • Assisting with grant and scholarship tracking and communications 

Education

  • PNW Work-Study Student

Experience

  • Must be a currently enrolled student at Purdue University Northwest and eligible for Federal Work-Study
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Passion for mental health advocacy, community outreach, and service
  • Comfortable with Canva, Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Gmail), and/or social media platforms
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines with support from mentorship
  • Self-Driven Individual who takes initiative 

 

Preferred Background & Experience:

  • Academic focus or interest in marketing, communications, psychology, mental health, nonprofit work, business, social work, or related fields
  • Ability to work remotely and independently while staying accountable
  • Previous experience in event planning, peer mentoring, outreach, or nonprofit support is a plus
  • Strong interest in contributing to mental health awareness and community-building initiatives
