Job Summary
The Human Resources Assistant provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources and Training Department of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Northwest Indiana (BGCGNWI). This role is ideal for a college student pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field who is looking to gain real-world experience in nonprofit HR operations. The assistant will contribute to recruitment efforts, employee recordkeeping, training logistics, and staff engagement projects.
Pay:
- $15 an hour
Work Conditions:
- Flexible schedule including occasional evening or weekend hours.
- Travel to Club and outreach sites required.
- Must pass a background check and meet Club compliance standards.

Responsibilities
1. HR Administrative Support
- Assist with maintaining employee personnel files and ensuring confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Support onboarding efforts by preparing new hire packets and assisting with orientation materials.
- Help post job openings on job boards, websites, and internal platforms.
- Assist with scheduling interviews, sending candidate communications, and tracking application statuses.
2. Training & Development Support
- Assist in the coordination of staff training sessions, including scheduling, materials preparation, and attendance tracking.
- Maintain training records and update staff compliance logs.
- Help organize staff development resources such as training guides, certificates, and e-learning modules.
3. Data Entry & Reporting
- Assist in generating reports related to recruitment, training completion, and employee demographics.
- Track required certifications and compliance training for staff across all Club locations.
4. Special Projects & Staff Engagement
- Assist with staff recognition initiatives and HR communications (e.g., birthdays, work anniversaries, newsletters).
- Support the planning and execution of employee appreciation events or wellness initiatives.
- Participate in research tasks related to HR best practices or training trends.
Education
- PNW Federal Work-Study Student
Qualifications
- An approved participant in the federal work-study program at our partnership schools
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information professionally.
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
