Administrative Assistant, Student Services

Job Summary

The department of Forestry and Natural Resources is seeking an Administrative Assistant, Student Services. In this role, you will provide high-level administrative support and work independently to perform non-routine administrative functions exercising discretion, such as coordinating events, conducting searches for information, preparing reports or handling special projects. In addition, you will draft and edit correspondence, promotional materials or presentations, monitor operating budget and maintain financial records and handle non-routine inquiries and issues from internal and external sources. Additional duties will include:

 

  • Completing various tasks on a semester basis, such as coordinating textbooks, logging course evaluation data, and scheduling recurring room reservations
  • Serving as FNR Syllabus Coordinator
  • Serving as one of the Department Designees for FNR courses

What We're Looking For:

  • High school diploma/GED
  • 3 years of experience in an administrative support role
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs
  • Ability to interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
  • Ability to identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
  • Drafting, proofreading and editing skills

  • This was formerly classified as an operational/technical position; an internal lateral transfer will retain same benefit standing.
  • FLSA:  Non-Exempt (Eligible for Overtime)
