Job Summary

The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor position in organic chemistry beginning August 2026. Teaching responsibilities include, but are not limited to, organic chemistry and introductory chemistry. Faculty are expected to conduct research and participate in student advising as well as service to the department and university. The position is contingent upon available funding and a satisfactory background check.

Qualifications

The successful candidate must provide (1) evidence of effectiveness in teaching undergraduate courses and labs in organic and general chemistry and (2) a list of experiences and/or goals for establishing an active research program involving undergraduate students. A Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry or closely related fields such as Bioorganic or Bio-inorganic Chemistry is required. Department programs include an ACS-certified Chemistry undergraduate degree along with a relatively new bachelor’s degree program in Biochemistry, with 70-80 undergraduate majors total. A particular department focus is on providing students with distinctive research and professional development experiences.
