Join Purdue University Fort Wayne:
We seek a full-time, on-site Career Counselor in our Career Development Center. This position will assist students with their professional development, while educating and preparing them for a lifetime of career success. The annual salary for this position is $43,600.00 annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide a full spectrum of career counseling services for students and alumni.
- Serve as liaison to students and faculty in designated colleges.
- Conduct outreach programs and workshops.
- Collaborate with other staff to ensure the success of the office programming, events, and projects.
- Serve on a variety of departmental, divisional, and university committees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree.
- One year of work experience in a higher education or secondary institutional setting such as career services, counseling, academic advising, admissions or related field.
- Knowledge of career trends, career assessments, and career resources with demonstrated ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with both employers and academic units.
- Knowledge of various industries and academic programs with ability to make connections between these. Capable of managing multiple projects; proven ability to design and implement programs/workshops; and commitment to student and alumni career development.
- Strong written/verbal communication skills, presentation skills and competent in use of Microsoft Office and technology including digital communication and virtual meetings in a professional setting.
- Demonstrated counseling skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Master’s degree.
- Career counseling experience.
- Familiarity with NACE competencies, Handshake, and career assessments.
