We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site Director, Office of Emergency Preparedness in our University Police Department (UPD). This position will direct the active management of the University’s emergency preparedness program. The annual wage for this position is $72,000.00.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Direct all planning and development of university emergency preparedness plans.
- Prepare and administer Event Action Plans plans in response to major campus events.
- Keep informed of activities or changes that could affect the likelihood of an emergency, as well as those that could affect response efforts and details of plan implementation.
- Keep informed of federal, state and local regulations affecting emergency plans.
- Assist in the revision of emergency response procedures and plans based on regulatory changes, technological changes, or knowledge gained from outcomes of previous emergency situations.
- Actively manage the Builidng Emergency Plan (BEP) program.
- BEP program activities to include conduct workshops/training, provide online access, and plan review for BEP Developers.
- As directed, assist with the annual Integrated Emergency Management Plan (IEMP) & attachments review.
- Direct and oversee all training for the Building Deputy Program, including scheduling and facilitating quarterly meetings, onboarding and training new Building Deputies, and tracking, reporting, and completing all corrective action plans related to the program.
- Assist in gathering and disseminating all relevant data to aid in decision making concerning the allocation of resources for emergency management purposes. Plan, schedule, and execute drills and exercises of the plan(s).
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Public Safety, Management or 5+ years of law enforcement/ Fire safety with a leadership role. Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possess a working knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures and strategies to promote effective local, state or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property and institutions.
- Must have a working knowledge of the National Incident Management System & demonstrated knowledge of the Incident Command System.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique and coordination of people and resources.
- Demonstrated ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships and build mutual trust and respect with others, and maintain them over time.
- Possess a high standard of integrity, time management, and professional behavior.
Preferred Qualifications:
- National Incident Management Systems (NIMS) certifications and/or other emergency preparedness certifications.
- National Incident Management System ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-300, ICS-400, ICS-700, ICS-800.
- International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) Certified Emergency Manager (CEM) credentials are preferred and required within 2 years of employment.
- Prior experience interacting with government agencies.
- Prior experience in the public safety sector.
- Prior experience in a university setting.
