We are currently seeking a Field Experience and Licensing Coordinator in our School of Education. The Field Experience and Licensing Coordinator in the School of Education (SOE) will be responsible for classroom-based experiential learning placements for undergraduate and graduate education students at Purdue University Fort Wayne, including student teaching placements. The pay for this position is $52,000.00 annually.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Serve as the liaison to the Indiana Department of Education for licensure.
- Will work closely with program faculty to determine the number and type of classroom placements needed each semester for students in the early childhood, elementary, middle school, secondary, music, and art education programs, disseminating and collecting placement request forms as needed by particular districts.
- Follow the unique policies and procedures of the relevant school corporations to place students, and notify faculty members of approved placements.
- Develop and maintain relationships with schools and districts which will involve visiting sites to speak to teachers and principals in person.
- Collect and organize student criminal background checks as part of the documentation necessary for classroom placements.
- Meet with teacher candidates two semesters prior to their expected student teaching semester to discuss possible placements and will submit student teaching requests to the districts.
- Maintain a database enabling the SOE to track placements at the individual and program level, in order to demonstrate diversity of placements as required by our accreditors.
- Establish an outreach agenda to expand visibility of the School of Education among school districts and develop placement opportunities for education students.
- Cultivate and maintain relationships with school districts for career information and employment needs.
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Three year’s work experience in education settings.
- Familiarity with local schools and school systems, as well as the educators who staff and lead them.
- Knowledge of the teacher preparation process, particularly the role of clinical experiences.
- Familiarity with the policies and procedures governing placements of teacher candidates in host classrooms.
- Competence with data management using computer programs including Excel.
- Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with faculty on program clinical experiences.
- Positive internal and external relationship-building ability.
- Strong organizational skills.
- On need basis, some local travel may be required for meetings.
