Join Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW):
We are currently seeking a full-time, on-site, HR Coordinator in our Human Resources Department. The person in this position will mainly support the Talent Acquisition and Payroll functions but will support other functions of Human Resources as needed. Pay for this position is $14.00- $17.00/hr.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Conduct background screening on all student hires, including those students transfers that have not had a background screening within the past 12 months, student’s employees and non-paid appointments;
- Conduct misconduct screenings on new hires as required, including completing checks as requested for current or past employees from other employers;
- Obtain appropriate consent for background screenings;
- Track progress of screenings and ensure all components are completed in a timely manner;
- Document completion of screenings for audit purposes;
- Work with third party vendor to ensure completion of background checks;
- Communicate with hiring managers, and candidates on the status of screenings;
- Conduct Motor Vehicle Records checks including monthly renewals in accordance with Purdue policy and in collaboration with Purdue Risk Management;
- Represent the University at job fairs including set up/tear down with other campus staff;
- Audit and process overload/extra duty requests, making entries in the payroll system;
- Make deduction entries in payroll system for parking passes;
- Process fee remission requests, certifying employee status;
- Audit reappointment entries in payroll system for Spring and Fall semester;
- Maintain Technology Allowances deduction file and make entries in payroll system;
- Audit daily "Students and Temps with Duration Timekeeping" report, making corrections to employee time profiles when needed;
- Support Business Assistant, Lead as and when needed;
- Process payroll deduction for Campus Fitness Center membership;
- Assist in various initiatives, projects and surveys.
- Assist Lead Business Assistant and Associate Director with data cleanup and other projects as needed;
- Other Duties as Assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2 years general office experience.
- Personal computer and related software skills such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, data query, Internet.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures.
- Excellent communication skills (oral & written), planning, attention to detail, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, customer service skills and teamwork.
- Ability to influence and build work relationships among workforce at all levels.
- A learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes.
- Ability to work with accuracy under deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of human resources and payroll practices.
