Join Purdue University Fort Wayne (PFW):

We currently seeking a Plumber, Senior in our Operations and Maintenance department.  This position will perform preventative maintenance, installation, repair, inspection, calibration, etc. to PFW campus plumbing systems. The hourly wage for this position is $32.00/hr.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Respond to daily work orders for issues relating to campus plumbing systems.
• Diagnose problems and determine appropriate repair solutions.
• Ensure repairs and maintenance are completed when needed and make recommendations for new equipment purchases to supervisor.
• Manage parts and supplies needed.
• Submit new work orders for issues found.
• Conduct inspections on campus plumbing systems including annual fire hydrant testing, annual back flow prevention testing and repairs, and annual in-ground main water shutoff valve exercising.
• Analyze and develop plumbing layout of installations, ensuring compliance of construction and local plumbing codes.
• Make recommendations for equipment purchases.
• Determine and purchase supplies necessary for installations and repairs. Install and connect new lines, valves, and equipment as needed.
• Assists with campus utilities shutdowns, including assisting outside contractors in locating and servicing facilities, equipment, etc.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• A High School diploma or GED.
• Active Indiana plumber license.
• 4 years of plumbing experience; commercial plumbing experience is a requirement.  
• Demonstratable ability to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair various piping systems including chilled water, steam, air, gas, high- and low-pressure steam lines, heating systems, air compressors, or pneumatic controls.
• Proficient in the installation of water lines, waste lines, steam lines, refrigerant lines, fixtures, and valves. Familiarity with local plumbing codes, flow capacities, and restrictive flow characteristics of pipes and fittings.
• Must be able to move, lift, carry, push and pull 25 to 50 pounds, frequently and up to 60 pounds occasionally.
• Must have the ability to work at various heights on ladders, bucket trucks, etc.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with the Purdue University Motor Vehicle Records policy requirements.
