Job Summary
The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences at Purdue University Northwest announces an exciting opportunity to apply for a Clinical Assistant Professor, Practicum Clinic Coordinator position in our CACREP Accredited Master of Science in Education, Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling Programs to start August 2027. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Counselor Education program and support clinical supervision/instruction within the Community Counseling Clinic at PNW.
Position Responsibilities & Description
Development/oversight/implementation of CCC policies/procedures in collaboration with Counseling Program Coordinator. As clinic coordinator, maintain all standards related to relevant accrediting bodies. Assure the provision of counseling services in a manner consistent with accepted professional and ethical standards and state law.
Individual and group clinical supervision and instruction of counseling students engaged in CCC clinical activities including: 1) oversee/manage master’s interns in the CCC, including providing clinical supervision, 2) potentially carry a small clinical caseload in the CCC, for teaching and training purposes (e.g., co-therapy; recorded sessions to be used for teaching purposes, etc.)
Teach 1- 2 courses per fall, spring, and summer semesters, as needed. Required course instruction for Practicum and Advanced Practicum courses. Oversee/coordinate clinical master’s practicum sequencing. Provide didactic training and facilitate new student and adjunct faculty orientations.
Participate in program governance (e.g. work collaboratively on accreditation and program improvement efforts) and participate in beneficial service to the school, college, university, community, and profession.
Qualifications/Requirements
The School of Education and Counseling is seeking applicants who have an earned doctoral degree in counselor education from a CACREP-accredited program and have clinical experience for a minimum of one full academic year. Applicants must be licensed as a clinical mental health in Indiana.
Required Experience:
- Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP-accredited program.
- At least one year of post degree clinical experience
- Eligible to be fully licensed as a Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) in Indiana
- Training in supervision
Preferred Experience:
- Clinical experience with community populations
- Clinical experience with youth
- Training and/or certifications in play therapy or expressive arts
- Experience teaching practicum and/or providing clinical supervision.
- Experience in administrative role(s)
- Eligible for School Counselor license in Indiana
