Job Summary
The Purdue University Northwest Marketing and Communications Department is looking for a Student Website Developer to assist with development, troubleshooting and change-management review on the Purdue University Northwest website during the Spring 2026 semester. This individual will collaborate with the PNW web team, contributing to PNW’s WordPress custom theme with the goal of supporting a secure, optimized website that successfully accomplishes recruitment and marketing goals.
Keys tasks might include:
- 
Conducting change-management reviews when plugins and services update to ensure proper website function. 
- 
Making HTML/CSS/PHP adjustments to improve website layouts, colors and interactions. 
- 
Reviewing feedback from services like GTMetrix, SiteImprove and Query Monitor to address site errors and improve website performance. 
- 
Updating and adapting the Advanced Custom Fields building blocks that make up the PNW custom theme. 
This position will be offered a 20-hour-per-week, hourly-paid stipend. It does not include tuition remission.
Education
- 
Currently enrolled in a graduate program at PNW 
- 
Has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Graphics, Computer Science, Information Systems or a similar field 
Experience
- 
One to two years of website development experience with working knowledge of HMTL, CSS and PHP. 
- 
Preferred: Experience evaluating feedback from services like Google Lighthouse, Query Monitor and SiteImprove to update and optimize websites. 
- 
Preferred: WordPress experience, particularly experience working with custom themes in a multisite environment. 
- 
Preferred: Familiarity with web accessibility guidelines (Section 508 and WCAG) as well as shared code control/change-management processes.
