Overview of Student Success Coach
Purdue University Northwest's University College is seeking a Student Success Coach to join their team. The primary purpose of the Student Success Coach is to provide individual, appreciative, and transformational student advocacy on matters such as academic performance, college-life navigation, and resource referrals. The services of The Student Success Coach will collaborate with academic advising to provide a committed, consistent, and transparent support system for students. The Success Coach will report to the Associate Director of Student Success and Retention to create community and facilitate student success and completion within University College at PNW.
This position works primarily on our Hammond, IN campus; however, may have occasional travel to our Westville, IN campus. This position does have the opportunity for a flexible work schedule in the summer months, but does require a strong on-campus presence.
Salary: Up to $50,000
Duties and Responsibilities of Student Success Coach
- Meet with students to assess support needs, create individualized action plans, and conduct recurring appointments to monitor academic progress and ensure follow-through on success strategies.
- Plan and facilitate various student engagement events throughout the semester.
- Identify and engage at-risk populations through targeted outreach, partnering with campus resources and Care Teams to address complex student needs and promote use of the Student Success Hub.
- Serve as a member of the Readmission Student Support Team by monitoring student progress, providing timely updates, and collaborating with the Student Success Hub to support students in achieving reinstatement to good academic standing.
- Collaborate with University College staff in supporting students with action plan items such as time management, resource utilization, and goal setting.

Education of Student Success Coach
- Bachelor’s degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field (e.g., social work, counseling, education)
- Master’s degree in higher education or related field preferred
Experience of Student Success Coach
- Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience in an academic advising and/or retention-related position
- Experience in public higher education, preferred

- Ability to learn, understand, interpret and relay the full range of student services available, including enrollment services, academic policies & procedures of PNW and associated federal & state regulations
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Possess excellent written, verbal, organizational, and time management skills
- Adapt to changes and willingness to learn new things
- Initiate and maintain professional relationships with diverse groups & sensitivity to the needs of students
- May have to work evening & weekend hours
- Strong interpersonal and human relations skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential
