Job Summary

The College of Humanities, Education and Social Sciences at Purdue University Northwest announces an exciting opportunity to apply for a Lecturer/Field Coordinator position in our CAEP accredited School of Education and Counseling and School program to start August 2027. The successful candidate will teach in the Elementary and Secondary education programs and support field placements each semester.

 

Position Responsibilities & Description
In addition to teaching one foundations level course and overseeing the student teachers, the Field Coordinator serves as the primary liaison between the School of Education, partner schools, and teacher candidates to ensure high-quality field and clinical experiences. This position coordinates student placements, cultivates and maintains partnerships with school districts, supports teacher candidates throughout their field experiences, and monitors program effectiveness.

 

Key Responsibilities

  1. Teaching: Teach one foundations level course (based on experience and expertise) and oversee Student Teaching semester

 

  1. Field Coordinator: Coordinate and secure field and clinical placements for teacher candidates.
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with school districts and community educational organizations.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for teacher candidates, cooperating teachers, university supervisors, and school administrators.
  • Organize orientations, training, and communications related to field experiences.
  • Monitor candidate progress and address concerns during field placements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation to support accreditation, licensure, and program reporting requirements.
  • Support continuous quality improvement efforts to ensure effective and meaningful clinical experiences for teacher candidates.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Masters or Doctorate degree from an accredited program in Education or related field
  • Minimum of 3 years as a K-12 teacher
  • Licensed as a teacher in the state of Indiana (license does not have to be current)

 

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Supervision of preservice teachers
  • Teaching education courses at university level
  • Field Coordinator Experience (working with principals, placing teacher candidates)
  • Experience in administrative role (s)

The School of Education and Counseling serves over 300 students in undergraduate education programs (elementary and secondary) and graduate program in counseling education.  Degrees from these majors lead to careers as K-12 teachers, special education specialists, and mental health and school counselors. All candidates are prepared to receive licensure following successful completion.
