The College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences at Purdue University Northwest announces an exciting opportunity to apply for a Clinical Assistant Professor position in our CAEP-accredited School of Education and Counseling to start August 2027. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Elementary and Secondary Education programs.
Position Responsibilities & Description
The Clinical Assistant Professor is a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty position within the School of Education and Counseling. The successful candidate will teach up to 5 courses each semester, supervise teacher candidates in fields, and support program operations through service and committee work.
Key Responsibilities
- Teach five courses per semester (5-5 load) in STEM education and related program areas.
- Supervise teacher candidates during field experiences
- Attend and participate in Education Program faculty meetings.
- Engage in service activities that support the School, College, and University, including committee work, as assigned.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff on program assessment, accreditation, recruitment, and continuous improvement efforts.
- Perform other duties related to the operation, continued accreditation, and advancement of the educator preparation program.
Qualifications/Requirements
Required Experience:
- Master’s or doctoral degree from an accredited program in Education (STEM related)
- Minimum of 3 years as a K-12 teacher
- Licensed, or eligible for a license, as a teacher in the state of Indiana (license does not have to be current)
Preferred Experience:
- Supervision of preservice teachers
- Teaching education courses at university level (science or math methods preferred)
- Experience with LMS and teaching online courses
- Awareness and knowledge of AI and how to effectively integrate in courses

School of Education and Counseling Profile
The School of Education and Counseling serves over 300 students in undergraduate education programs (elementary and secondary) and graduate program in counseling education. Degrees from these majors lead to careers as K-12 teachers, special education specialists, and mental health and school counselors. All candidates are prepared to receive licensure following successful completion.
