4-H Youth Development Science Extension Specialist - Computer Science

Job Summary

This position will be filled as 4-H Youth Development Science Extension Specialist or as a 4-H Youth Development Science Extension Specialist, Senior. The hiring manager will determine the job level based on the skills, experience and qualifications of the selected candidate.

 

As the 4-H Youth Development Science Extension Specialist, you will serve as member of a team committed to enhancing the Indiana 4-H Youth Development program. Responsibilities are focused on innovation with regards to the design, development, delivery and evaluation of Computer Science learning opportunities in 4-H programming. Successful candidate will work closely with faculty, Purdue Extension Specialists and Extension Educators, and industry stakeholders. Other responsibilites will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Create, design, teach and evaluate staff and volunteer development programs and initiatives, to enhance current and evolving 4-H Youth Development CS educational programs, partnering with faculty and other Extension Specialists as appropriate
  • Work with 4-H Youth Development Extension staff to develop, implement, deliver and evaluate new and innovative 4-H programming and learning experiences, specifically in the area of Computer Science
  • Identify grant opportunities; write manage, and assure fulfillment of grant requirements
  • Support statewide 4-H Youth Development program efforts through participation in program planning and development discussions
  • Participate in Indiana 4-H Program activities when appropriate
  • Serve as a member and participate in regular meetings/communication with the National CS Advisory Group
  • Serve as a liaison between the 4-H Science Mission Team, Extension 4-H Educators and campus-based faculty and specialists
  • Provide oversight to 4-H computer science related subject matter projects, activities and events
  • Communicate 4-H philosophy, mission and values through development and implementation of programmatic policies and procedures for the 4-H program with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Supervise clerical, graduate and undergraduate students who assist with event preparation and implementation

4-H Youth Development Science Extension Specialist

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer technology, computer graphics, or data science
  • 2 years of experience with development of educational materials and methods of instruction for youth and adult audiences
  • Experience working with volunteers, teaching/training of adults and youth
  • Knowledge of volunteer administration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle non-routine questions and make decisions
  • Ability to develop curriculum and implement other educational opportunities for youth and adult audiences focused on computer science and computer science applications
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining program integrity
  • Ability to effectively use technology to accomplish 4-H Youth Development computer science focused programming
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, including prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines
  • Valid U.S. or Canadian drivers' license

4-H Youth Development Science Extension Specialist, Senior

  • Master's degree in computer science, computer technology, computer graphics, or data science
  • 3 years of experience with development of educational materials and methods of instruction for youth and adult audiences
  • Experience working with volunteers, teaching/training of adults and youth
  • Knowledge of volunteer administration
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to handle non-routine questions and make decisions
  • Ability to develop curriculum and implement other educational opportunities for youth and adult audiences focused on computer science and computer science applications
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse audience of internal and external stakeholders, while maintaining program integrity
  • Ability to effectively use technology to accomplish 4-H Youth Development computer science focused programming
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, including prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines
  • Valid U.S. or Canadian drivers' license

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with Cooperative Extension Service
