Applications Developer, Associate (CERIS)

Job Summary

This position will be filled as an Applications Developer, Associate or an Applications Developer. The hiring manager will determine job level based on skills, experience and qualifications of the selected candidate

 

The Center for Environmental and Regulatory Information Systems (CERIS) is a recognized center at Purdue University which develops custom information solutions that help clients meet work flow and regulatory requirements using knowledge systems that manage, track and analyze key data.  A wide range of products include smartphone Apps for both iOS and Android devices, database systems with web interfaces that access plant diagnostic data, pesticide registrations, pest survey data, and BoilerApps projects which are special projects that meet the unmet software development needs of Purdue University.  Working in a team and collaborative environment, this position will design, develop and create smartphone applications which are standalone or integrated with existing software systems supporting major programs that provide complex data reporting, web based applications, and mapping features.

 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Develop new and maintain existing applications written in a variety of programming languages
  • Design code, test and debug software

 

Applications Developer, Associate

Required

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, computer graphic technology, information systems or equivalent experience
  • Experience creating iOS or Android applications using Swift, Java, Objective-C, C#, or some other comparable language
  • Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively within a team on projects
  • Some occasional travel
  • Good planning, organizing and communication skills
  • Completion of Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) training.  Training will be provided to those without the certification

 

Preferred:

  • Experience working in an Agile environment

Applications Developer

Required

  • BA/BS degree in computer science, computer graphic technology, information systems or related field
  • 2 years of experience in software applications development. technology, information systems or related field
  • Experience creating websites and web applications using HTML, CSS PHP or other comparable languages, and dynamic technologies such as JavaScript, jQuery and Ajax
  • Knowledge of relational database systems such as MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle
  • Some occasional travel
  • Ability to take initiative and work collaboratively within a team on projects
  • Good planning, organizing and communication skills
  • Completion of Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) training. Training will be provided to those without the certification.

 

Preferred:

  • Experience with content management systems, such as Drupal, WordPress, SharePoint or Joomla.
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
