Care Manager

The Clinical Care Manager is a mental health staff member within Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), whose primary function will be the development and implementation of supportive services designed to address the needs of students in crisis. As Care Manager, you will provide assessment, crisis intervention, and support to students in crisis and in need of case management services. You may carry a small clinical caseload, depending on the need for case management service provided.  You will coordinate with CAPS’ therapists, psychiatric providers, as well as receiving therapists or practitioners, to facilitate and assure as seamless a transition as possible in cases where the student’s needs dictate referral to more intensive service or additional service providers.  Also, this staff member will assist with facilitating psychiatric hospitalizations and coordinating post-hospitalization follow-up care.


  • Master’s in Social Work or Master’s degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an accredited academic program
  • Two (2) years of experience providing case management as well as general mental health services; practical experience in a graduate training program will be considered
  • Must be licensed as a LMHC or LCSW and license eligible in the appropriate field in the State of Indiana
  • Experience providing services to a diverse client population
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality is essential in all aspects of this job, as are independent judgment and discretion
  • Understanding of and adherence to HIPAA and professional ethics are mandatory
  • Diagnostic and brief therapy intervention skills are necessary, as well as the ability to make decisions about the urgency of patient problems
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships, and possess strong organizational and administrative skills


  • Experience providing case management as well as general mental health services to late adolescents and young adults
  • Experience with the college (late adolescent/early adult) population
