Educational Technologist

Purdue Online is reinventing the learning experience through the exploration and assessment of new instructional technology to meet the needs of our faculty. The educational technologist will work with faculty, staff, and students to identify, analyze, and explore the the teaching and learning technology needs of the university identifying instructional gaps.

 

As a member of our fast-paced investigation and development group, the educational technologist will recommend pilot technology initiatives and as successful recommend transitions of these initiatives to the organization. They will proactively collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to implement pilot technologies using research methodology. The educational technologist will also collaborate with our internal development team members to lend their voice to creating new and innovative digital tools.  


Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Technology, Education, Computer Technology, or related field
  • Two years of experience in one or more of the following: administration, consultation, or support of instructional technologies; working with faculty and instructors on best practices for use of technology to support instruction in Higher Education or K12; and/or creating mixed media materials, documentation, and FAQs for instructional technologies or related
  • In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to learn and apply new technologies and processes rapidly, adapting to changing and time-sensitive priorities 
  • Ability to apply research methodologies to instructional technology evaluation 
  • Intellectually curious and inventive
  • Self-motivated, hardworking and passionate with the determination to succeed

 

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Instructional Technology, Education, Computer Technology, or related field
  • Experience developing instructional design strategies and leading implementations of technology initiatives 
  • Experience in research and identification of new tools and technologies in Higher Education or K12
  • Experience teaching in Higher Education or K12 
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage process and effort tracking with faculty, staff, and students 
  • Ability to articulate technical terms and analytical outcomes in a user-friendly way, using visual aids such as graphs, charts and executive summaries 
  • Knowledge of challenges faced by instructors in the implementation of new tools and technologies to the learning environment
