Faculty Affairs Program Manager

Job Summary

The Faculty Affairs Program Manager (FAPM) will enhance the mission of Faculty Affairs in the Office of the Provost with efforts in developing and retaining excellent faculty through program management, events coordination, and special projects/initiatives.


Plan and develop programming for department heads and faculty by benchmarking peer institutions, understanding the variety of needs of the faculty at Purdue University (through the COACHE survey and other methodology to gauge such needs), and at the advisement of the Vice Provost and Associate Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs. Identify appropriate speakers and materials for the development needs of the department heads and faculty and coordinate effectively. Responsible for promoting these offerings and assessing their impact. (Some existing programs include New Faculty Orientation, New Department Head Forums, Department Head Forums, Big Ten Academic Alliance-Academic Leadership Program, Purdue Insights Forum, and the Faculty Awards Convocation.)



  • Bachelor's degree
  • One year of program or event management experience
  • Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required experience
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills Ability to understand and execute a customer-service orientation that creates a professional image
  • Ability to provide excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to draft professional memos and other correspondence
  • Ability to proof with accuracy news copy, ad copy, web copy, and reports
  • Absolutely essential to execute confidentiality
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and communicate University policy and procedures
  • Familiarity with data, data displays in the form of tables and reports and basic data analysis skills
  • Ability to take initiative to solve problems, assume responsibility and meet deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs
  • Ability to interact with a diverse constituency of individuals
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a part of a team



  • University experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint
