High Voltage Operations Coordinator

Job Summary

The High Voltage Engineer/Specialist has technical oversight of the university's high voltage operations, and with limited supervision is responsible to develop, maintain, and communicate high voltage electrical engineering standards for the University.  Fulfills stewardship role by providing electrical engineering support and planning for the campus high voltage generation and distribution systems.  Prioritizes deferred repair and rehabilitation needs and provides strategic master planning for building high voltage electrical systems.  Using appropriate A/E assistance, provides oversight for in-house electrical design work. Provides engineering support and mentoring to the Project Engineering group.  Provides facilities engineering support for Wade Utility Plant and the high voltage operations organization.  Provides engineering judgement and recommendations on electrical issues.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology
• Minimum of four years’ experience in medium voltage distribution systems or power electronics
• Must have a valid driver’s license

Skills Needed:

• Knowledge of appropriate state and federal electrical codes
• Strong:

  • computer skills required in use of Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and discipline-specific technical software applications
