Leaves Manager
Job Summary
This position provides overall responsibility for the administration of all time off programs. Responsible for policies and procedures related to the development and coordination of time off programs, ensuring effective processes for administrating leaves. Provide guidance and direction to assigned staff in the processing of various leave related actions including leave policy interpretation, compliance with regulatory requirements and providing responsive customer service to employees and stakeholders. This position will influence and manage leave policies which will lead to consistent and simplified policies and processes. As a subject matter expert for leaves administration, the Leaves Manager will develop and deliver strategies to manage leaves and work on problem resolution. This includes resolution of FMLA, PPL, STD and LTD. This position will manage a team of highly skilled HR professionals to develop solutions with a balance between innovation and the basics using automated systems and data to analyze and communicate results to various levels of leadership and stakeholders across the university.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the business relationship with outside vendor administering the absence management software. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to coordinate with other benefit vendors as appropriate. Daily interactions with all levels of faculty and staff, stakeholders, vendors and others regarding matters pertaining to leave management.
- Must keep uo-to-date on leave laws, policies, procedures and processes and make changes where necessary to ensure compliance, efficiency and effectiveness. Analyze data, interpret findings, troubleshoot and problem solve to implement and manage various leave programs and processes.
- Communicate effectively, both oral and written formats, develop and conduct presentations for supervisors and employees, and assist with development of customer service information (i.e. web resources, knowledge base, training materials) related to leaves.
- Conduct performance appraisals, hiring, coaching and counseling, training, career development conversations and progressive discipline for direct reports.
- Work with the HR business partner team, departmental business offices and supervisors to seek resolution on employee cases related to leaves and disabilities.
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor's degree in human resources, business or a related field
- Three or more years of HR experience
- Consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of required education and related work experience
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to interpret leave policies and identify solutions for a variety of leave related issues
- A learning orientation to changing technology impacting leave/absence management processes
- Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills along with effectiveness in presenting to small groups, large groups and one-oneone
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
What is Helpful:
- Experience in HR leaves, absence management or disability management
- Experience with SAP or other HRIS system
