Marketing and Communications Specialist

Job Summary

The Marketing and Communications Liaison will facilitate the internal and external communications for the School of Industrial Engineering via written and digital communications.  The liaison will work with the Head and Director of Operations to develop, manage, and execute a comprehensive communications and marketing plan.

 

Major responsibilities are to:

  • Inform and advise faculty and staff regarding policies, procedures and programs of the university
  • Serve as the liaison between the Industrial Engineering faculty and the department and department Head, coordinating communications and ensuring messages are presented in a positive and understandable fashion
  • Organize and compile, in a timely manner, reports and project documents to ensure they are clearly written and well organized
  • Serve as the central point of organized communication for both internal and external audiences
  • Serve as an ambassador for the department relative to outside communications, including interactions with parents, alumni, students, and other Purdue faculty and staff and represent the department as a responsive, supportive, consistent, and well-organized entity
  • Create content for promotional materials and create/edit materials for the website, seeking faculty, staff and student input when appropriate
  • Grow the social networking outreach and presence
  • Work with Marketing and Media personnel to increase media awareness and coverage of the department's events and happenings

 

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Two (2) years of experience managing professional office communications, website design, and/or marketing material creation and distribution
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be creative, thorough, professional, and able to handle confidential information with discretion
  • Strong time management skills and ability to handle interruptions and balance multiple and varied tasks
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products

 

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of website design and creation, social media, marketing concepts, brochure and newsletter creation, and publication software
