Job Summary

This position will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Dual Career Assistance Program.  The Office provides both relocation services to prospective new faculty and dual career services for the accompanying faculty spouses and partners who are part of the University faculty recruitment and retention effort.  Responsibilities include networking with University departments and external employers to assist dual-career spouses and partner in securing employment.  Meet with prospective or new faculty who are relocating to the Purdue area to provide them relevant material.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist dual-career spouses and partners who are seeking non-academic employment.  Consults with and supports spouses and partners in their job searches.  Develop strong working relationships with University departments and external employers.  Research and stay informed of hiring practices, employment trends, other labor issues, and their impact on hiring of employees.  Identify resource and strategies to connect employers and dual career partners in mutually beneficial working relationships.
  • Provide resume critique and mock interview opportunities to dual career spouses and partners.  Provide referrals to job networking resources.  Research and implement best practices, gather and analyze data and reports and participate in assessment of the programs' success.
  • Provide wide variety of relocation services by meeting with prospective faculty or new faculty who are relocating to the Purdue area.  Continually research and provide information regarding entertainment and outdoor recreation, financial institutions, parking and traffic services, community visitor information, diversity and community connections, cost of living information, cultural and youth activities.
  • Provide information to new and potential faculty regarding:  Purdue policies, benefits and retirement, campus climate, disability resources, parking and transportation, libraries, campus groups, moving reimbursement, faculty and staff tuition reimbursement programs, discounts and perks, and temporary housing.

What We're Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in Leadership, Human Resources, Business, Behavioral Science, Counseling, or a related field
  • Two or more years of experience in career counseling, training/development, outplacement, recruitment, or other related experience
  • Ability to articulate a strong commitment to diversity and have the ability to work effectively with individuals from different backgrounds
  • Experience in the use of social media to engage and connect with partners and employers
  • Ability to work limited evening and/or weekend hours
  • Ability to travel occasionally
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization
  • Analytical and data management skills with the ability to translate data into action planning
  • Demonstrated successful experience in influencing people
