Associate Director of Summer Session

Job Summary

The Associate Director of Summer Session will work across the campus on a broad spectrum of issues related to expanded summer enrollment. The Associate Director will primarily focus on the expansion of online summer offerings, microprogramming efforts in the areas of Early Start and Spring Forward, other strategic scholarship initiatives to increase affordability, and marketing.  The Associate Director will directly supervise a team of 10-20 student workers, also assist with the functional supervision of four full-time staff members, and 30 undergraduate peer mentors.  The Associate Director should have a strong grasp of the University’s academic and co-curricular values.  The Associate Director must also possess strong analytical, academic, conceptual, writing, presentation and interpersonal skills.

 

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience in needs assessment for planning, marketing, and evaluating academic programming, supervision of both traditional and hybrid methods of curriculum delivery, and a collaborative, collegial, and strongly-communicative professional style. A highly motivated self-starter with robust creative/innovative qualities will be the ideal candidate.

 

Required:

  • Master’s degree
  • 4-5 years of professional experience in a summer session, president/provost's office, admissions, student success, orientation, academic advising, strategic initiatives, and/or data analysis setting 
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative, make recommendations, use appropriate decision-making processes, and use discretion in handling confidential information  
  • Must be able to coordinate work flow and must be able to multi-task, meet multiple deadlines at a quality level, design and implement efficient procedures, demonstrate professionalism, and manage large amounts of data, including preparing and presenting such data in front of small and large groups of staff and/or faculty
  • Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels  
  • Must be able to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes teamwork to successfully guide the work of others
  • Supervisory experience necessary
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures 
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills  
  • Skilled in data analysis, including software knowledge such as Cognos or Argos.
  • Personal computer and related software skills necessary (Microsoft Excel, Outlook, database, internet, etc.)

 

Preferred: 

  • PhD 
  • 5+ years of professional experience in a summer session, president/provost's office, admissions, student success, orientation, academic advising, strategic initiatives, and/or data analysis setting

 

Additional Information: 

  • Purdue will not sponsor employment authorization for this position  
  • A background check will be required for employment in this position
  • FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime)
  • Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contributions immediately
