Supplier Diversity Administrator - Procurement Services

Job Summary

The Supplier Diversity Administrator is responsible for the hiring, training, management and oversight of the staff and functions of the Supplier Diversity team at Purdue University. The Supplier Diversity Manager will develop strategies to increase Procurement Services’ utilization of minority-owned and women-owned businesses and monitor their utilization rates across contracts. In addition, the Supplier Diversity Manager maintains relationships with minority-owned and women-owned businesses and related industry groups on behalf of Procurement Services’. The Supplier Diversity Manager works with the Supplier Diversity Specialist to carry out the team’s responsibilities.

The Supplier Diversity Team is responsible for completing the following tasks:

  • Works closely with Procurement Leadership to develop and implement a supplier diversity vision and strategy
  • Works with Strategic Sourcing and Category Management to enhance/ensure diverse supplier engagement during sourcing process
  • Networks with program stakeholders, representing Procurement Leadership and the University’s vision and strategy across the region and State
  • Collaborates with the Systems team to run utilization reports
  • Collaborates with the Training team when necessary


  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or other business-related area
  • Six or more years of experience in procurement, supply chain management, supplier diversity management or related
  • Two years business, management, purchasing, or contracting experience
  • Experience working with and advocating on behalf of diverse businesses.
  • Experience in establishing relationships with diverse supplier communities and advocacy groups
  • Experience in developing and implementing principles and practices of supplier diversity programs
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, planning, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, project management, and customer service skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize work and determine best course of action to meet established deadlines
  • Ability to create great working relationships with all levels of staff and across multiple disciplines
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently, proactively, and assertively within a complex organization
  • Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures
  • Working knowledge of SAP/Ariba
