Lead Power Plant Maintenance Mechanic - Heat & Power

The successful candidate will serve as working Crew Chief for the maintenance department. Supervise and train maintenance mechanics, schedule and check work progress and quality. Take the lead in performing replacement, installation, repair, and preventive and predictive maintenance for all power plant equipment. Estimate, plan and direct work for crew of Mechanical Maintenance and I&E, and generate required reports, schedules, participate in and provide input to supervisor on issues of long range planning and forecasting.  Estimate and plan jobs for work crew.  Serve as backup to other Crew Chiefs and the Maintenance Supervisor in the event of absence.  Prepare work for composite crew working other shifts, track productivity and establish productive expectation.  On 24 hour, emergency call back and maintenance departments "emergency on-call rotation" required. May be required to carry a pager.  


  • High school diploma/GED
  • Five years' relevant experience in Industrial Equipment Maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines 
  • Demonstrated shop mathematics, technical manuals and precision measuring equipment 
  • Knowledge of pneumatic and ability to install pneumatic tubing
  • Ability to work in a high pressure environment and to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing 
  • Ability to utilize computer to generate reports, and work with computerized maintenance management system (SAP)  
  • Ability to interpret blueprints, schematics and ASME Welding Codes 
  • Ability to work in a variety of conditions such as confined space (boilers, pits) and in hot and cold conditions
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 to 80 pounds frequently, and up to 100 plus pounds occasionally
  • Ability to work from heights up to 100 feet
  • A valid US or Canadian driver license

  • This position requires availability for 24-hour call-back
  • Occasional overtime may be required; subject to 24 hour call back for emergencies; on-call rotation required
  • A Background Check will be required for employment in this position
