Our Opportunity:

Building on Purdue University's mission to provide greater access to affordable, high-quality education, Purdue University Global is a public,

nonprofit institution offering a world-class education online. The Director of Regulatory Compliance will provide support to

Purdue University Global’s School of Nursing.

Job Summary:

The Director of Regulatory Compliance serves as the School of Nursing’s senior leader for all matters related to programmatic accreditation and state board of nursing compliance. This role provides leadership, coordination, and strategic oversight of the School’s regulatory and accreditation functions, ensuring full alignment with institutional expectations, state and federal regulations, and the standards of accrediting bodies.

Functioning as the primary liaison to programmatic accreditors (CNEA and CCNE), state Boards of Nursing (currently Iowa and Maine for prelicensure programs and Boards of Nursing requiring involvement in graduate studies), and any future regulatory entities, this role ensures accurate, timely, and consistent communication, reporting, and documentation. In addition, the Director leads initiatives that support regulatory approval for programmatic growth and multistate expansion, positioning the School of Nursing for sustainable and scalable development.

This role is essential to ensuring the School of Nursing operates with excellence, integrity, and readiness in a rapidly evolving regulatory landscape.

What to expect in this role:

Regulatory Compliance and Accreditation Management:  Manage all external compliance, accreditation, and regulatory processes to maintain institutional standing and readiness for growth.

  • Lead the development and submission of accreditation and BON documentation, including reports, site visit preparation, and policy updates
  • Oversee the timely and accurate preparation of self-studies, annual reports, site visit documentation, responses to findings, and all other required communications for accreditors (CNEA, CCNE) and Boards of Nursing (currently Iowa and Maine, along with Boards of Nursing involved with graduate level oversight. Expansion is anticipated for new program growth).
  • Serve as the primary compliance liaison. Act as the point of contact between the School of Nursing and external regulatory bodies, internal compliance units, academic departments, and university operations teams. Represent the School in all compliance-related audits, evaluations, site visits, and communications related to accreditation and licensure.
  • Support proactive regulatory strategy for new state entry, program launch, or expansion efforts and lead regulatory research and program expansion readiness.
  • Investigate requirements for program approval in new states or new program areas. Coordinate the development and submission of applications and related documentation to Boards of Nursing and regulatory agencies.

Institutional Alignment and Continuous Improvement: Ensure internal compliance performance, policy adherence, and a culture that supports ongoing quality and institutional integrity.

  • Collaborate with academic, legal, and operations stakeholders across the university to ensure compliance alignment.
  • Review and monitor the School’s alignment with Purdue Global’s academic policies and institutional expectations related to compliance, reporting, and program integrity.
  • Track and communicate outcomes related to retention, NCLEX pass rates, student success, and other required institutional benchmarks. Support action planning where metrics indicate risk or noncompliance.
  • Monitor internal academic policies and outcomes data (e.g., retention, NCLEX performance) to support institutional reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Promote a culture of compliance and continuous improvement, and reinforce regulatory excellence as a strategic priority. Identify process gaps, implement workflow improvements, and build sustainable systems to ensure operational integrity across all compliance functions.

Supervise and Lead the Compliance Team:

  • Supervise the Accreditation and Regulation Specialists who manage daily compliance activities.
  • Oversee the daily work of experienced compliance professionals, providing guidance, problem-solving support, and clear communication through regular team meetings and one-on-one check-ins.
  • Provide mentorship and performance oversight to ensure role clarity, workload management, and professional development.
  • Monitor team performance and program outcomes, ensuring efficiency, quality, and alignment with compliance goals.

Perform other duties as assigned.  Occasional travel.

  • Ability to provide constructive, evidence-based feedback to faculty and administrators regarding compliance gaps or risks

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, particularly when managing deadlines and regulatory submissions

  • High-level collaboration and influence skills, able to build consensus across academic, legal, and administrative units
