Job Summary

We welcome applications for the position of Lecturer of American Sign Language (ASL) at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. ASL at Purdue University is housed in the School of Languages and Cultures (SLC), in the College of Liberal Arts.
Qualifications: The full-time Lecturer in ASL will possess native or near-native fluency in ASL. Minimum level of education is a Master's degree in American Sign Language or related field, and candidates must be ASLTA certified (American Sign Language Teachers Association). American Sign Language Proficiency Interview (ASLPI or SLPI:ASL) must be at the proficiency level of 4 or better.
The Lecturer will generally teach four in-person classes per semester. The specific classes taught by the Lecturer are at the discretion of the coordinator of the ASL program in consultation with the Head and Associate Head of the School of Languages and Cultures. Possible course assignments include all levels of American Sign Language and Deaf culture courses. In addition, some service to the School of Languages and Cultures and the ASL program at Purdue will be expected, such as participation in extracurricular events and program-building activities.
Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications. The Lecturer position at Purdue University is benefits-eligible with the opportunity for eventual promotion to Senior Lecturer.
