The Director of Infrastructure is expected to work closely with the Department Head to identify and execute strategic research initiatives to improve research competitiveness with Tarpo Department of Chemistry. The director is also responsible for managing the department's infrastructure resources and technical services to support teaching, research, and administrative functions. This includes overseeing the NMR facility, the Cell Culture facility, the Machine Shop, the RIC, the X-ray facility, the Amy facility, the Scientific Glass Lab, and the development of new facilities such as the Autonomous Materials Discovery facility, the High Throughput Catalysis center, and the Machine-learning guided Drug Discovery facility. In addition, the Director will assist the Department Head and work with faculty members to obtain external resources in addition to the responsibilities outlined below.

What We're Looking For:
Education and Experience Needed:
- A master’s degree in science, engineering or related field
- Six (6) – seven (7) years of experience is required
- An MBA is considered an additional asset
- Required experience includes:
- Professional experience providing strategic administrative and management support in a large Department or Center
- Extensive experience in roles of organizing research center efforts involving multiple principal investigators
- Significant experience in building consensus and influencing decisions in an academic environment
Preferred:
- PhD in Science or Engineering
Skills Needed:
- Understanding of health and safety related to substances and equipment within research spaces
- Ability to:
- quickly assimilate information, analyze data, and provide strategic advice and decisions
- translate the needs of researchers to architects, consultants, and operations teams
- Active in health and safety management, establishing and following policies and procedures
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
- Extensive experience in operational leadership, strategic thinking, and change management
- Demonstrated experience in tracking key performance indicators, metrics, and measures
- Proven ability to work cohesively to encourage change management while communicating broadly
- Enthusiastic and motivated with the ability to create and sustain a collaborative organizational structure
