Job Summary

The Executive Director of Business Career Services for the Daniels School of Business leads the Business Career Services team, driving career development and employment initiatives for undergraduate students, graduate students, and alumni.  The position retains a strategic focus on career readiness and positive career outcomes for students and alumni, ensuring alignment with short-term and long-term goals of the business school. The Executive Director reports to the Associate Dean of Undergraduate Programs and serves as a member of the school's senior staff team.  

 

About Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business: The Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business aspires to take a top 25 program and transform it into a top 10 program that competes for the best students in the country.   The key components of this transformation are:

 

  • Career Bound and the Larsen Leader’s Academy.  Programs that sharply improve students’ professional competencies by providing enhanced coaching and mentoring alongside an integrated curricular/co-curricular approach to professional development.

Required:

  • Master's degree
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience in one or more of the following areas:  career services, human resources, general management, counseling, student services, and/or related experience
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Candidates should possess an established record of leadership experience in an academic or business environment
  • Must be capable of managing complex processes, supervising a staff of full/part-time and student employees, interacting positively with a diverse population, thinking creatively, and working independently
  • Outstanding organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills; 
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and audiences simultaneously 
  • Highly-effective written and oral communication skills; ability to excel in a fast-paced customer service-oriented environment
  • Ability to develop and manage relationships effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Knowledge of career services and employment trends, issues, and challenges and a proven ability to be innovative in approaches to management problems
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel overnight (up to 30% or more during some periods), as needed

 

Preferred: 

  • A degree in business management is preferred. 
  • Strongly prefer candidates who have an MBA or related MS degree in Human Resources from an AACSB-accredited business school.  
  • with at least five years of supervisory experience preferred.  
  • Experience communicating with diverse and changing audiences, via web, print, and other media is strongly preferred 
  • Experience advising, mentoring, counseling, or recruiting graduate and professional students or new business professionals highly desirable
