We're looking for a dedicated professional to perform routine and specialized diagnostic procedures/tests to identify microbial pathogens in animals. You'll play a crucial role in analyzing data to support the diagnostic and research missions of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.

 

This is a molecular-focused position with opportunities for cross-training in other laboratory sections, ensuring you gain a well-rounded skill set and can provide essential backup assistance when needed.

As the Laboratory Technician you will Perform routine or specialized diagnostic procedures/tests for identification of microbial pathogens of animals and analyze data in support of the diagnostic and research missions of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory. This position is a molecular position with required training in other laboratory sections as needed to provide backup assistance. Core duties include nucleic acid extraction and PCR amplification (real-time and gel-based). Applicants must be willing to work nights and weekends as needed for national reportable disease testing, specifically during animal disease outbreak situations.

 

About Us: 

The Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory (ADDL) at the Purdue College of Veterinary Medicine, located in West Lafayette, IN, is seeking a full time Operations Analyst. The ADDL is a full-service veterinary diagnostic laboratory that serves the state of Indiana by providing both routine and regulatory diagnostic services to support Indiana veterinarians, animal health officials, livestock producers and animal owners. 

 

What We’re Looking For:                                
Education and Experience

Qualified candidates will need:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or a related field
  • Veterinary technical degrees may also be considered
  • One year of relevant work experience
  • An equivalent combination of an Associate’s degree and 3 years of relevant experience may also be considered

 

Skills Needed:

  • Must have the ability to multitask and be flexible in order to accomplish daily tasks.
  • Must be willing to work in a team setting
  • The right candidate will also have the ability to work independently under moderate supervision

 

Preferred:

  • A degree in biology or animal sciences is preferred.
