Job Summary

This position will work on the project of Parental Inclusion in Language and Research (Project PILAR): An Indiana Scale-Up of Dual Language Education. This project is funded by a National Professional Development (NPD) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. The Research Scholar Lead is a subject matter expert in bilingual education and quantitative methodologies and can operate independently and in collaboration with other team members with research that is difficult and complex. Provides with recommendations within scope of research project regarding research plans, goals, and evaluate progress of research projects. Lead professional development sessions and institutes. The Research Scholar Lead will oversee interim and annual fiscal reports for funders and ensure efficacy of IRB protocols. The Research Scholar Lead will supervise and direct up to six graduate students and one staff member to ensure that project timelines and benchmarks are met for research, including data collection, data management, data analysis and publications.

This role is grant funded for two years. While additional grants are always solicited, the duration of this role is through August 31, 2026.

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Supervision, training, and guidance of graduate research assistant students on project research in coordination with project investigators and students’ advisors. 
  • Advise research students on quantitative data collection and analysis. 
  • Oversee the collection and analysis of data in the field of senior research team. 
  • Lead the Summer and Fall professional development sessions at area educational services centers, school districts and universities in consultation with senior research team members.
  • Supervise the IRB revisions, developments, and protocols. Write interim and annual reports to ensure projects are handled in an ethical matter and reflect accomplishments of research. 
  • Oversight of interim and annual fiscal reports and collaboration on final project reports for funders. 
  • Manage and participation in data cleaning of extant and newly collected data (quantitative and qualitative).

 

Qualifications:

 

Required:

  • Ph.D. in ESL/bilingual education, applied linguistics, language & literacy, or closely related field. 
  • Two to three years or more of experience in K-12 ESL or bilingual education, expertise in quantitative methods and, in supervising research projects. 


Preferred:

  • Spanish/English biliteracy.
  • Experience in Higher Education.
