The Facilities Assistant serves as Building Deputy for Lawson and Data Science building (DSCB). This position is responsible for coordinating repair projects for several Computer Science buildings. Responsibilities also include assembling and moving office furniture, preparing offices and labs for remodeling, troubleshooting and diagnosing repair issues, estimating time and materials for jobs, and ensuring compliance with building codes. Additionally, the role partners with supervisor to implement preventative maintenance programs for three Computer Science Department buildings and maintains building and room usage policies. The position also involves maintaining key databases, implementing electronic lock systems, setting up offices, and arranging furniture purchases. The facilities assistant also supports event planning and execution for departmental and College of Science needs via space setup and related tasks.

What We're Looking For:

Education and Experience:

  • High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
  • Four (4) years of relevant experience required. Relevant experience may include facilities repairs/maintenance, purchasing from external vendors, office or lab furnishing ordering and setup

 

Skills Needed:

  • Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines, analyze space needs, use a personal computer (with Office and database software), Strong communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with external vendors, maintenance providers, and building event contacts. 
  • Carpentry and painting skills. 
  • Proficient using hand and small power tools. 
  • Strong organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work with Faculty, Staff, with a positive attitude
