Job Summary

Purdue University College of Education is accepting applications for the Videography & Social Media student assistant to provide support to the Director of Communication and the communication team. The ideal candidate should be an excellent communicator who is adept with capturing events, news, and profile features through video and photography to be used in a wide variety of marketing communications. The Videography & Social Media student assistant will have the opportunity to build their own portfolio of work through employment in this role. The position reports to the Director of Communication.

This posting represents two positions.

Job Responsibilities

Under the supervision of the Director of Communication, this position will assist with the regular and special video- and photography-related projects. These projects may include:

  • Covering all aspects of an assigned event, news, or profile feature project.
  • Processing and editing videos as needed for final use.
  • Uploading videos to a shared location where communication staff can access videos.
  • Assisting with maintenance and organization of the College of Education YouTube channel.
  • Assisting with planning AV for special events.
  • Creating graphics for social media posts to accompany news articles.
  • Meeting regularly with the Director of Communication.
  • Other duties related to the role as needed.

Qualifications

Required

  • 1-2 years of experience with video recording and editing ability.
  • Experience with video editing software such as Final Cut Pro or Adobe Premiere.
  • Experience with Photoshop or similar photo editing software.
  • Must be able to work independently to complete projects in a timely manner.
  • Exceptional team player with strong time management and a willingness to learn new skills and ideas.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, a strong work ethic, and enthusiasm.

Preferred

  • Experience with InDesign or other graphics software
  • Owning camera equipment is helpful.
  • Previous experience in marketing, advertising, communication, public relations, or related field.

Additional Information

Note: This position is currently remote but will move to on-campus in the future.

Hours Worked: Applicants should be available to work 10 hours per week, typically during the hours of Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
