About Purdue Convocations

Purdue Convocations is a multi-disciplinary performing arts presenting organization based at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. For more than a century, Convos has served the region as a presenter of world-class, national and international artists across the performing arts and entertainment spectrum, with over 30 productions each academic year in multiple campus and community venues ranging from 140-6,000 seats. As a presenter at an institution of higher education, Convos has a strong tradition of curricular engagement as it connects visiting artists with classroom discourse in both the pre-school to grade 12 and collegiate communities. Job Description

The primary role of the Senior Brand Ambassador Intern is to serve as a dynamic representative of the Purdue Convocations brand to Purdue campus and Greater Lafayette communities and serve as a marketing liaison for the marketing team. The goal of this position is to give students valuable real-world experience in a professional performing arts marketing environment. The Senior Brand Ambassador position should work an average of 15 hours per week during the Fall and Spring semesters. Class schedule must be provided and some evenings and weekends may be required, at the discretion of the direct supervisor. The Senior Brand Ambassador Intern must be reliable, organized, responsible, and flexible. They must also be ambitious, detail-oriented, creative, and driven.

The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable in marketing, management, communication, journalism, public relations or related field. A US or Canadian driver's license and reliable transportation is required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent and minimum of one semester of college coursework completed
  • Must possess a valid US or Canadian driver's license
  • Must be actively enrolled at Purdue University, Purdue Global or a local accredited college.
  • Previous work experience within marketing, management, or communication preferred.
  • Coursework in marketing, management, communication, journalism, public relations, consumer sciences, or other related field
  • General knowledge of Purdue University, the performing arts, and social media best practices preferred
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Flexible and dependable with a strong attention to detail
  • Problem solving, logic and reasoning skills
  • Customer service oriented
  • Ability to multi-task and work within deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and with a team
  • Be timely and organized

Position Responsibilities

  • Represent Convos as a brand ambassador to the Purdue West Lafayette campus and Greater Lafayette communities
  • Deliver marketing materials (posters, brochures, etc.) throughout campus and Greater Lafayette, as needed.
  • Assist Marketing team with development and execution of marketing campaigns, event promotions, and student group sales
  • Identify Purdue campus student organizations and Purdue campus units that could be strategic partners for group sales
  • Attend in-person performances and events, as needed
  • Exhibit friendliness, diplomacy, and tact in responding to patrons and community partners
  • Be adaptable to dynamically changing situations and prioritize responsibilities while continuing to provide the highest level of customer service
  • Maintain confidentiality and exhibit professional conduct when handling sensitive information 
  • Serve and participate on committees within the division to provide feedback from a student perspective
  • Present ideas to leadership, as identified
  • Responsible for all scheduled shifts (based on class/exam schedules for the semester)
  • Attend marketing staff meetings to gain and/or share pertinent information, as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned
