Application Developer
Job Summary
The Center for Environmental and Regulatory Information Systems (CERIS) is a recognized center at Purdue University which develops custom information solutions that help clients meet workflow and regulatory requirements using knowledge systems that manage, track, and analyze key data. Working in a team and collaborative environment, this position works under general supervision to design, develop, and install new software products or enhancements to existing software. It also includes but is not limited to enhancements to complex data reporting, web-based applications, and mapping applications.
What You’ll be Doing
- Application Development - Develop new and maintain (analyze and modify as necessary) existing applications written in a variety of programming languages. Design, code, test, and debug software. Interpret and document end-user information needs. Maintain system documentation.
- Meetings – The application developer will participate in regularly scheduled meetings with other team members. These meetings may include other developers, project managers, leadership, and stakeholders.
- Support - Produce status reports and other technical documentation as required. Occasional creation of PowerPoint presentations and posters, as well as formally presenting at user group meetings.
What You Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer graphic technology, information systems, or related field
- Two years of software development experience
- In lieu of a degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience (Associates degree with 4 years of experience, High School/GED with 6 years of experience)
- Systems analysis and programming skills
- Ability to work independently on time-critical projects
- Ability to work collaboratively
- Strong communication skills – written and verbal
