Job Summary
An Assistive Technology Lab Assistant helps to make Purdue's information technology infrastructure accessible to faculty, staff, and students with disabilities. The ATL Assistant does this by:
* Providing training and assistance using: screen reader, screen magnification, voice recognition, text-to-speech, Braille embossing, tactile graphics, and/or specialized hardware and software for persons with disabilities.
* Giving tours and information sessions in a knowledgeable and professional manner.
* Providing knowledgeable and accurate information to those who teach persons with disabilities at Purdue and to those who provide information technology resources to Purdue faculty, staff, and students.
* Ensuring the Assistive Technology Lab's equipment is available and ready for use by all ATL clients. This may include positioning equipment and ensuring that it is plugged-in and turned-on especially for clients who may not be able to independently rectify equipment problems.
* Assisting registered Purdue students, faculty, and staff who have disabilities with analysis, decision making, and problem solving.
Training will be provided. The applicant needs an interest in assisting ATL clients and a willingness to learn about assistive technology. Work times are flexible.
