Position Overview
As Senior AI/Automation Engineer, you will:
- Develop, test, and enhance AI-based solutions across the software development lifecycle, enabling advanced Data and Analytics platforms
- Contribute to innovative AI initiatives that deliver tangible impact across the Purdue University system
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including IT, data analytics, research, and academic departments—ensuring AI/automation solutions meet diverse campus needs
- Oversee operating systems, application software, and system management tools for AI-driven Data and Analytics solutions, ensuring stability, scalability, and security
- Tackle complex and ambiguous challenges, employing broad expertise to solve unclear problems and drive meaningful, operational improvements
- Manage projects or processes of significant technical and organizational complexity
- Coach, mentor, and review the work of junior team members, helping to build the next generation of AI talent at Purdue

The anticipated annual salary for this position is between $93,040 to $98,855 commensurate with the candidate’s education and experience. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including equity, available budget, educational background, and relevant experience.

What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, computer engineering, systems analysis, or closely related field
- Minimum four (4) years of experience in AI Automation (UiPath preferred)
- An equivalent combination of education and/or experience will be accepted
Preferred:
- Master’s degree
Skills Needed:
- Experience with automation tools
- Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML model deployment
- Experience in deploying AI/ML solutions
- Knowledge of agile methodologies and project management practices
- Strong commitment to quality, attention to detail, and continuous improvement
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions and drive results
- Knowledge of software development methodologies (Agile, Scrum) and SDLC processes
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders
- Creativity and a passion for innovation in the field of AI
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, and Java, as well as experience with industrial automation software platforms and working with popular machine learning libraries/frameworks
- Must be committed to continuous learning and staying up-to-date with the latest advancements in AI and Automation
Preferred:
- Experience with UiPath and/or iPaaS
Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture - ITIL certified
